Virtually everyone has heard of Global Domains International.  Are they really worth all the attention they seem to be getting?  The majority of people in Global Domains International make no money.  Is the company to blame?  Let’s take a look and see.

First, you need to know that I am a distributor for Global Domains International.  However, this is not a GDI advertisement.  The reason I’m telling you this is I want to be upfront about where I’m coming from.  These are all my first hand experiences.  Not only mine, but the people I directly sponsor and the many more I communicate with on a regular basis.  What I have to say, some people at GDI just may not like.  My intention is not to speak badly about anyone.  But it’s important for people to know the facts surrounding the myth.

Second, you will not be learning about the compensation plans or any other aspect of the business side.  For that kind of information you need to visit a Global Domains International web site.

It’s been awhile since I did a search on GDI so, before writing this I did just that.  It seems opinions about GDI vary greatly.  Most of the discussions were about the web hosting side.  That is exactly what GDI is, a web hosting company.  Even though you now can register most kinds of domains with them, originally you could only register .ws domains.

Even so, they will probably never be the top web hosting company.  For one example, you cannot install a blog on your GDI site.  That’s because they don’t support MySQL.  Even though many people have asked about this in the GDI forum.  So, as far as web hosting goes they are somewhat basic.  On average, these websites are for small businesses and people that don’t need more advanced features.

Also, they are not the least expensive hosting company available.  Mostly, that is because of what comes with a GDI account.  From domain registration and web hosting to the site builder and email accounts.  Not to mention the business opportunity.  Fifty percent of the profits they make go back to GDI members (at least the ones that can actively recruit).  Could they make it cheaper?  Probably.  And if they were only a web hosting company they would.  Considering the model of the company, however, I do not see a price change any time soon.

Yet another issue people have with them is a supposed lack of support.  Personally, I have never had a support issue (except at times it seems a little slow).  When I first joined with GDI I knew very little about creating a website.  To be honest, I still don’t know a lot.  Though I have not contacted support much, the few times I have my questions have always been answered.  In the past I have had many people on my team leave GDI.  However, I have also never heard of one having a problem deleting their account.  Maybe that is one reason GDI has been around for so long.

With all that being said, here is one more issue I have seen.  As with all home based businesses, the failure rate in GDI is high.  During my first two years with GDI I sponsored not one single person.  Not even one.  And I tried everything I was told.  And even though by my third year I had learned to sponsor people, they still left as quickly as I brought them in.  The reason for this, in my opinion, is that Global Domains International is not a network marketing system.  They are a web hosting company.  Even though they are a great company, the way they teach people to recruit simply stinks.  Chase your friends and family and just watch the money pour in!  On the whole that just doesn’t work.  In the few cases it does, it does nothing for retention. Without that proper training most people see no results and eventually just quit.  And after three years, had it not been for the training I finally received, I would have been among them.

But in the end are they a good company?  They most definitely are.  Are they worth the effort?  That completely depends on you.  As it is with any home based business it takes work.  And before you can even hope to have success, you really need proper training.  The only way anyone can hope to succeed is by not giving in.  Treat this like what it is.  A business.  Stop chasing people around and get the training you need.  So, if you really want to succeed you need to make a commitment and stick to it.
